Classification and varieties of gas meters
img Classification and varieties of gas meters

All existing gas meters can be roughly divided into three main categories:

  • for household use;
  • for communal needs;
  • for industrial use.

Each of the models presented in these categories differs in its operating parameters, throughput, standard sizes, installation features and maintenance intervals.

It is important to understand that any gas metering device is mounted for the longest possible time period. It is for this reason that it is so important to select models that are distinguished not only by reliability and safety in operation, but also by the utmost durability with minimal maintenance.

According to their principle of operation, all gas meters are divided into 4 types:

  • turbine;
  • rotary type;
  • with membranes;
  • vortex.

For use in the domestic sector, gas meters with membranes are generally recommended. Compared with other types of equipment, these metering devices have certain advantages. Among them are simplicity in daily operation, low gas consumption, maximum accuracy of readings. Membrane meters are insensitive to magnetic fields, they are hermetically sealed and extremely durable with regular maintenance.

Installation of the meter is possible both directly indoors and outdoors. When installing outdoors, it is necessary to provide protection against external factors (waterproof housing, sun shade, and so on).
